Video games that have explicit and carefully thought-out-educational purposes are greatly accepted in the medium of video games. Such games are used both in higher and in health professional education. Besides, they are used for training purposes in other professionals such as the military (Ellaway, 2016). However, certain games contain violent scenes, some depict sexually explicit acts that all stretch beyond the domain of entertainment. Such acts make individual act aggressively in their relationships with the outside world, lower their empathy, making them less kind and giving them the belief that issues should be resolved using violence. Although some games have informative material, the majority of the popular video games highlight undesirable themes and encourage vehemence and sexual violence. For instance, video games that depict real people with the intent of character assassination tamper with individuals’ way of thinking and gives them the notion that resolution can stem from violence. As a result, such individuals always turn to violent behavior whenever they are provoked. Such individuals also engage in breaking the law by engaging in violent crimes such as robbery with violence. For instance, in the U.S in 1999 a controversy surfaced over the massacre of thirteen people at Columbine High School. After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the perpetrators were ardent players of violent video games (Ellaway, 2016). Video games also expose individuals to other adult content such as sexual acts. Such individuals, therefore, engage in sexual exploitation and violence against women. They may see women as sexual objects, batter and rape them. Interacting with video games can change how individuals judge them. Through interaction, individuals can realize that games have a myriad of advantages. Through playing games, individuals develop problem-solving skills by coming up with inventive techniques to unravel mysteries within a short time. Games also enable individuals to manage inadequate resources and come up with the best ways of using resources the same way as in real life. Some of the games also trigger the intelligence of players to make faster decisions without losing accuracy which is applicable in real-life situations where individuals are required to make important decisions without necessarily sacrificing accuracy (Zhao & Linaza, 2015). Therefore, through interaction individuals and especially adults can understand that video games play substantial roles in the development of important life skills.
