The final assignment for this course is a scientific laboratory report on both of the Labster
virtual labs that you have completed for this course so far. This assignment will get you started
on the process of writing that Laboratory Report. Follow the steps bulleted below to begin the
Final Laboratory Report Rough Draft assignment.
Note: The final assignment will entail additional components that are not included in this predraft assignment. Ensure you review all requirements and grading criteria carefully for the final
assignment to ensure completeness.
• Use Lab Activities 1 and 2 as the basis for the Laboratory Report Pre-Draft.
• Complete and submit the Laboratory Report Pre-Draft Template Download
Laboratory Report Pre-Draft Template(download the Laboratory Report Pre-Draft
Template, and utilize this document to ensure proper formatting and inclusion of all
required material).
• Before beginning this assignment, view the Sample Final Laboratory Report
Download Sample Final Laboratory Report(due in week 5), located in your online
classroom, and use it as a writing guide.
Cite at least two government sources (webpages or reports), two credible sources (news
articles), and one scholarly source (academic journal article) for a minimum of five outside
sources. In addition, you are encouraged to cite the textbook and any other assigned materials
from this class. Human Resource Management homework help
The pre-draft must be four to six pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and
formatted according to APA style. You will receive feedback from your instructor on this predraft that you will use to write the Final Laboratory Report, which is due in Week 5. The Final
Laboratory Report has a page requirement of seven to nine pages. Your ideas for each section
of this pre-draft do not need to be fully fleshed out, but do your best to set yourself up well for
the Final Laboratory Report.
For an Introduction to APA (Links to an external site.), visit the Writing Center and UAGC Library
tab, located on the left navigation toolbar, in your online course.

In your paper, include the following sections:
Introduction: For the pre-draft, this section should be about a half to one page in length.
• Identify the background information on the environmental and sustainability topics
presented in the labs and an overview of why the labs were conducted.
o Include your topic sentence for this paragraph.
o List the main points and sources you will use to support those points.
• Identify information from other experiments previously conducted that looks at
resource challenges similar to the two labs.
o List the cited sources you will use from governmental and credible nongovernmental sources that conduct similar scientific studies and experiments.
• Identify the hypotheses from the lab simulations and the reasoning for
those predictions.
o The hypothesis should not be adjusted to reflect the “right” answer. You do not
lose points for an inaccurate hypothesis. Scientists often revise their hypotheses
based on scientific evidence following the experiments.
Materials and Methods: Summary of all of the materials including scientific equipment used in
the two lab activities and the methods used to conduct the experiments. For the pre-draft, this
section should be about one page in length.
• Describe the experiments in outline format with enough detail so that another scientist
reading the report could replicate the experiment.
o You can assume that a scientist would know how to use the lab equipment from
the experiments and conduct basic lab procedures. See the Writing Center’s
resource on Outlining (Links to an external site.) for assistance with this step.
• Summarize the methods in your own words.
o Do not simply copy and paste from the lab instructions.
Results: This section should include any data and observations from the experiments. This
section should not include personal opinions or discussion – just a description of the results. For
the pre-draft, this section should be about a half to one page in length.
• Include all data and pertinent figures for the experiments in the labs.
• Describe all data and figures in a written paragraph. Human Resource Management homework help
o List and summarize the key points in outline format.
o Include any data that reveals a pattern that relates to the hypotheses. Again,
see the Writing Center’s resource on Outlining (Links to an external site.) for
assistance with this step.
Discussion: This section should interpret your data and arrive at the key findings
or conclusions. It should be one page in length. You can outline each of the bullet points below.
See the Writing Center’s resource on Outlining (Links to an external site.) for assistance.
• Explain your initial hypothesis (for each lab) and whether it is accepted or
rejected based on specific results from the experiments conducted in the labs.
• Discuss the real-world implications and applications of the results from multiple
perspectives including environmental, business/economic, political, and social.
o If you outline this section, provide a list of at least one point for each of these
topics and which cited sources support the points.
• Analyze how the results of the experiments and topics of each lab relate to the
environmental challenges of resource sustainability.
o Identify the natural resources that are present and how they are threatened.
• Evaluate at least two examples of businesses, organizations, cities, states, or countries
implementing innovative technology solutions and policies to promote sustainability
related to the lab topics.
o List the supporting examples and the sources.
• Develop at least one policy or technology solution for the specific situation presented in
each lab, taking into account the environmental, business/economic, political, and
social impacts.
o For the outline, describe the nature of the solution for each lab and mention
how it will benefit at least one of the factors listed above.
Conclusion: For the pre-draft, this section should be about a half to one page in length.
• Summarize the purpose, methods, results, and key findings of the Laboratory Report.
o You may create a full conclusion or just create an outline of the topic sentence
and list a few key points you will cover in the conclusion section for
the Final Laboratory Report assignment.
The Laboratory Report Pre-Draft
• Must be four double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages)
and formatted according to APA Style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in the
Writing Center’s APA Formatting for Microsoft Word (Links to an external site.) resource.
• Must include a separate title page with the following:
o Title of paper
o Student’s name
o Course name and number
o Instructor’s name
o Date submitted
• Must utilize academic voice. See the Academic Voice (Links to an external site.) resource
for additional guidance.
• Must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph. Your introduction paragraph
needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.
o For assistance on writing Introductions & Conclusions (Links to an external site.)
as well as Writing a Thesis Statement (Links to an external site.), refer to the
Writing Center resources.
• Must use at least two government sources, two credible sources, and one scholarly
journal article in addition to any assigned videos or readings.
o The Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external
site.) table offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. If you have
questions about whether a specific source is appropriate for this assignment,
please contact your instructor. Your instructor has the final say about the
appropriateness of a specific source for a particular assignment.
o To assist you in completing the research required for this assignment, view this
Quick and Easy Library Research (Links to an external site.) tutorial, which
introduces the UAGC Library and the research process, and provides some library
search tips.
• Must document any information used from sources in APA Style as outlined in the
Writing Center’s APA: Citing Within Your Paper (Links to an external site.) guide.
• Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA Style as
outlined in the Writing Center. See the APA: Formatting Your References List (Links to an
external site.) resource in the Writing Center for specifications. Human Resource Management homework help
