Gender Stereotypes Research Essay

Gender-related stereotypes replicate the basic significance individuals assign to both men and women. Confidence is seen as a pointer of intervention in men and care is regarded as a pointer of a better commonality in females. The variations placed between men and women are portrayed in the manner they conduct themselves and the choices they make in life.

Gender stereotypes play a significant role in the manner individuals view the aptitudes of men and women. To begin with, there is lack of concern for the interest of women such that it demotes women to a series of subservient obligations such as obedience and faithfulness (POJMAN and FIESER 175). Besides, when it comes to evaluation, both men and women evaluators tend to value performance by both genders differently.Gender Stereotypes Research Essay

Gender stereotypes also inspire the supposed potential of males and females, the roles they are supposed to perform and how the given roles are rated. For instance, in their jobs, women are less likely to rise in high positions of power compared to their male colleagues. Also, in the video when the children were asked to draw pictures of a firefighter, a surgeon and a pilot sixty-one out of sixty-six drew men while five drew women. That was a clear indication that society believes that certain duties are best suited for men but not women.

Gender stereotypes have also given individuals the belief that both men and women have psychological differences between them. For instance, according to Aristotle men are naturally designed to command and women to obey. For instance, in the family structure, the husband has authority over the wife and the children. For instance, if the man gives the wife an order to carry out laundry, the woman obeys the command.Gender Stereotypes Research Essay
